I had the brake return spring snap on one rigger so took it in for re: re plus overhaul/ new brake pads was done. Great service, I agree. The designated Scotty repair facility that I used was on the mainland and charges a flat $10 for repair/parts and overhaul. I saw the actual cost of the bill and it looked to be around $40 . I suspect this flat fee of $10 would be the case now for all Scotty repair facilities - my work was done onsite at this location so no shipping charge. Scotty stipulates that you must be the original owner of the downrigger so the rigger S/N has to be registered to you ( not a second hand purchase registered to a previous owner). If the S/N is registered to another person then the shop wil bill you the full amount of parts and labour. If you never registered your downrigger then register it online prior to your repair. It is my understanding that if you have 2nd hand downriggers that are not registered with anyone previously that you can then register them in your name. If the rigger has been deemed abused, submerged or otherwise damaged by reasons that were your own doing, warranty is void. Aso if you open the downrigger motor housing the warranty is void.
