Scotty Downrigger 2 belts or 1

Qestion: scotty downrigger with 2 belts or 1 belt, both seem to work fine just curious as they are both 1101s was it a design change? Opinion on what one is better? Cheers Thanks in advance.

My first set in the late 80s had dual belts but all the ones after have been singles.
As far as which one is better...........never had one go bad so?

My 3rd rigger has 2 belts very happy with its performance, upgraded to a 60" boom running a 15# ball.

The one belt is fine now that they have a kevlar weave built into them. The first gen of these did 't and the belt broke often. Scotty got the fix done quite quickly once the problem became known.
