Scotty 2106 not working.

I was testing my gear for my trip up to Nootka today and found one of my Scotty 2106’s isn’t working. It was fine at the end of last season. I tested it in other power source and the Morenco plug is ok and has power. It does zero. Is there a circuit breaker inside the unit? It’s 5 years old. I don’t want to really open it up and risk voiding warranty. Any thought?

Your post is kind of confusing because if the rigger works when you swap it to the other side, then there’s no problem with the rigger. The problem is no power at the outlet on the boat. Either in line fuse is blown, lose connection, bad outlet on the boat side, or maybe your riggers are each connected to a different battery and there’s a battery problem

Ok. So make this clear. All of my power sources are working. I’ve confirmed that with a test. It’s the 2106 itself and no issue with power source.

Take lid off and you will see that counter runs on its own power. Does not use rigger power.

I've had an intermittent problem with my 1106. Checked power changed switch and still had problems. Turned out to be the circuit breaker inside the unit was cracked. Took it to Barry's bait and got it back today. All electrics use the same circuit breaker so should be covered 4 you.
If not it's a 5$ I part you can install yourself.

I think the problems inside the unit. This rigger had a frayed power cable replaced last year by Scotty. They must have done something. Looks like a Scotty warranty repair. I don’t really want to pull the motor and wiring out.

Didn't want to start a new thread for the same issue. My 2106 mysteriously stopped working yesterday. Checked the plug and everything looks clean. Tested on the other power source and also a spare battery and still no sign of life.
@pescador - What was the source of the problem on your unit and how quickly did HW return it? May need to take it in for repair.

I believe a common issue is the mag switch in the stopping device. They will internally short out. It’s the small cylinder with the 2 black wires. Easy way to tell is to just switch them over from one unit to another.

Geez. It’s been a while. But, something had tripped in the motor and they replaced a circuit or fuse if I recall right. HW fixed it in 3 days. It was a standard problem according to the guy at HW.

There was another thread on this. Something to do with the switch. I purchased replacement parts that I keep on the boat. I haven't needed them in the five years I've owned the 2106's so I forget what the parts were or where I ordered them from. I got them as backup, in case something failed while on a big trip. Didn't cost much.

Thanks guys. Swapped the mag switch with a new one and still no sign of life. Taking it to HW today. I like the idea of keeping the essential parts in the boat. Already have a couple of dig counters in the cuddy! has saved my a$$ a few times.
