Saltwater Fishing for Pinks - light tackle suggestions

Looking to take some family members & newbies fishing for pinks this summer. I am looking for suggestions on light tackle to have a little more fun and avoid flashers and downriggers. Will be fishing Sandheads mostly. Your suggestions please!

I have been thinking of trying a small plug on a center rod just below the surface. Pick up some pinks or possibly coho.

I was thinking about this today as well as the kids made sandwiches with some pinks we caught in 2023. I froze them head off guts out and the mother in law canned them last summer, surprising good… better then bought for sure.
Anyway I might just jump in here if okay, was about to ask if there are spots any better than others on the inside as wouldn’t mind having some fun with the kids and rounding out some limits this summer. We’ll be fishing out of Nanaimo and Sooke for a couple weeks in August. Caught some around beechy head in 2023 though just as incidentals.
Do we anticipate an August season off Sandheads or not likely until Sept 1?

Casting and retrieving for pinks with small jigs, spinners and spoons can be an amazing way to share the day angling for pinks and other salmon on light rods and reels. Buzz Bomb Zzinger lures, Jig Geek hoochy jigs, SPITFIRE FISHING LURES spinners. The list goes on and on. In the two attached images, one ounce baitfish and one ounce squid that I make in a number of colors.

Get in touch with me closer to the date ill help ya out with sooke...

AS for fun with pinks i like to use those mini flashers with a squirt ... or a dummy flasher with a red small spoon or the apex all alone , 30 to 50 feet on rigger pop fish on with no flasher can be a lot of fun..

Yeah awesome, appreciate the offer! We usually fish out of Cheanuh, got a few there in ‘23 though will see what this year brings.

Mini-fasher and dummy flashers are a good call, be a lot easier on young arms. Might bring a couple fly rods as well to troll full sink.

Hard on kids, but for people that can cast heavy sink tips, deep 7 is what I use,if you find a school cast let it sink till almost vertical and retrieve with quick strips can be lots of fun, use to do it lots for humpys and coho offshore out of renfrew
