Hey all,
I am heading down to bamfield at the end of june and was wondering what the majority of you guys do to get your boats there-Trailer down the long sometimes bumpy logging road or launch at china creek. I just bought a new boat and am scared to beat the hell out of if I miss the graders.
Cheers

I towed into Bamfield one time a long time ago. Big mistake and costly repair to my trailer. Launch at China Creek and boat down. Much easier on you, your boat and your trailer.

I don't even bother with the gravel road to china creek. I launch at clutasi and run to bamfield.Plus lots of parking across the street from the marina.

I always launch in the river. Your trailer never sees salt and no dust. Motors also get flushed on the way back. WillyD

We've gone down to Bamfield for years, only made the mistake once of pulling the boat down on the road, besides its a beautiful run in the boat.Watch out what time of day you go down it can get rough from 11 am on.Dan

Just watch where you park, it is damn unpleasant to return from a fishing trip and find your truck's rear window smashed and find that someone has attempted to steal.....nothing, because there was nothing inside the truck worth stealing (not even small change). :(

You must be crazy or have unlimited time and money to drag a boat, let alone a vehicle down that road. The only way is to get there by boat. Anyone who tells you its a good road has been smoking something stronger than cigars.....[:p]

Best advice is to launch in the river at Clutesi Haven Marina and run down from there.

If you are headed down the canal go before 10:30 am as the wind starts to pick up in Nahmint, especially on hot days which creates big in-flow winds and associated waves. No problem for 24 foot or bigger boats, but its a lot too rough for smaller open boats.

Good luck and tight lines.

I hope any of you that run their boat and have their rv/truck driven in , don't complain about gas prices. I drive my truck/camper and trailer in my boat and i don't mind the road in.

Does anyone have any idea how long of a boat ride it would be from Clutesi marina to Poett Nook? I have an 18 ft Trophy with 150hp. I like the idea running it from the marina rather than from China Creek. I did that last year but still had to trailer the boat to China Creek.

Distance from Clutesi to Poett's Nook: 27.5 nautical miles.

1 knot= 1 nautical mile per hour.

Decide which will be your cruising speed and do your math. :D

It would take you 2 1/2hrs to drag your boat in by that power line trail to Bamfield. its best to run the alberni inlet by boat,If you plan on staying at Bamfield(best fishing spot around) very long have someone drive your truck in with the gear and ice & beer!

in 18 years, I've trailored the boat in once.
Didn't have a problem with the boat or trailer, but I was so nervous about it and went real slow and it seemed to take ages.

UNFUN

Launching in PA or China Creek is easier on the nerves...

Fishin' anywhere anytime for anything

Maybe they should look at paving that similar to what they did between Renfrew and Lake Cowichan. I would think, if nothing else, it would help the community by bringing in more tourist dollars.

Seafood, eat it, then catch more.

You pave that road, and ever Tom Dick and Harry Potter will wanna come out to Bamfield:D.. I have broken a axle, had 6 flats, lost spare tires.. you name it... it happend. Now 1 takes the boat and 1 takes the truck. Good Luck fish on Jay
