Heyo,

I own a Tacoma TRD-Off Road. Was wondering what is sorta max towing in terms of trailer + boat. Obviously there is the max towing capacity from toyota, but i'd like to see the size of boats and trailers that you guys tow and what is sketch and not sketch

I used to tow a Campion 542 with a Tacoma. Wouldn't want to tow anymore than that.

Send it!

Joking, where are you towing too and from?

22 foot boats are a good max tow for most 1/4 tons. Best if they are on a well built strong single axle trailer and not loaded up with coolers and ice. Put as much as you can in the bed of the truck and then load at the launch if doing tows over mountains or busy highways. Dual axle trailers are good but it all counts towards your tow weight, even if you have EOH brakes which is a good idea if you are close to max tow rating.

Nothin crazy, I'm towing to local launches (Vanier in Kitsilano and McDonald in Richmond)

When I took my boat home from Sechelt to Delta, I was sceptic on my Taco towing her home but she performed admirably, up hills not an issue due to the Tacos gearing of 4.88 and braking was helpful due to the surge brakes operating properly on the tandem trailer 20230815_162852.jpg

It's not what the towing capacity says you can tow....but more about what you can stop.
I tow a Jayco 174. Also used to tow a Bayliner 1952. This is with a 2005 Tacoma with the towing package. So it says can tow 6500lbs. But tongue weight, and payload on the truck will affect you (read your manual...it will be very enlightening) That being said. Try and keep it light and get a trailer with brakes. My current boat is light and does not have brakes. And I swear I can feel it back there during a hard stop.
