My good buddy Double D has some custom 30lb cannon ball molds which he fishes offshore and rubs bottom. He uses heavy duty cannon riggers and it works great. I have seen him fish 280-320 feet deep sweeping bottom picking up a variety of fish. Hali’s, rough eyes, pacific cod, black cod and springs.

I have newer Scotty's with their stock braid. Have never tried anything else. Does the PowerPro really make that much of a difference? Never crossed my mind that it would matter much - perhaps when I am due to replace my line (OR when the wife isn't looking) I will replace it, if the general consensus is that it matters...

I replaced mine. It does make quite a difference. Its about half as thick as the Scotty braid
