Has anyone replaced the wooden bunks on their trailer? If so, what do you suggest for type of wood? Are there any alternatives such as hard plastic? How do you get the necessary curves in the wood to fit the shape of the hull?
I just used 2x6 pressure treated wood the same lengh thats on there and the bent wood I think that accured over time. I got outdoor carpet from home depot and used that
Check with SG power or Sherwood, they have "teflon sliders"
that screw down onto the bunks.
You still need to carpet them, but the slider's make it easier
to load and unload the boat.
Do some research the teflon sliders, I have heard from more than a few guys that they eat into the gelcoat over time if you trailer the gravel stuff much. I had a teflon bow roller on my trailer, it started to eat the gelcoat up pretty quick, the stock rubber mount went back on.
