Recommended Boat Cover

Hi everyone,

Looking for a boat cover recommendation. Looking for one which covers the full boat and will tolerate highway driving.

I have a 17.5ft double eagle.

Thanks!

I went with a Budge cover 5+ years ago and have been very pleased with it. One of the reasons I chose Budge was the wide range of sizes and shapes. My radar arch was tough to fit with other covers and I was able to get an excellent fit. I don’t trailer with this cover, so I can’t speak to that. Ordered through Amazon.com with pickup in USA to save freight costs.

I’d get one custom made. assuming you have a soft top Bimini with a slope backed cover that uses snaps. I have a guy who does good work and inquired about getting one made. About 1000 sheckles though,

I second the budge covers on Amazon. I went with the heavier 1200 denier fabric. The heavier fabric lasts longer and will be better on the highway. I think if you’re looking for an off the shelf option, and not going custom, I would recommend them. You’ll have to size it for your boat.

Depending on your boat, you may need to go custom. I recommend Canvasea in PoCo - I have a Centre Console which is always a tough one to cover - they did an amazing custom storage canvas for me.

PVC tarps. work great from princess auto.

oh yeah. definitely not for trailering. i dont use any covers for that.
you dont need bungees FYI i dont use them for sitting around even in heavy winds. those PVC tarps are ~70lbs.

question on the sizing, over my radar arch my boats 27ft, over the arch on the beam it’s 12ft, 8ft beam boat with out the arch. How is the fit on your boat ?

I went a different route. After our Hourston was rebuilt in 2006 I wanted to keep the rain out and still have lots of air circulation - and be able to get on board. I was fortunate to have a space I could cover without a permit as its a 'temporary structure'. These can be configured for height and length and come in single or double width. Mine is 20' wide x 22' long x 10' high at the peak.

Maintenance is minimal - after ~10 years, the metal roof started to grow algae so it gets power-washed every 2-3 years. The boat collects a little dust but has stopped growing things inside or out. The bimini on the boat has lasted 23 years [19 under cover] and needs replacement this year or next - more than double the projected life if stored outdoors.

Quite pleased with the fit. I run a 2x2 wood back bone and then use ratchet straps for ‘ribs’.

It tucks up a bit higher over the radar dome where I built a wood box frame to take the weight off the dome.

Biggest concern is wet heavy snow in lower mainland, so far, I’m okay.

As I recall there were more choices on USA sites than Canadian so I was able to get a better fit.
