R3EF Mooching Rods?

I bought one on the weekend and first fish on, it snapped in half. Wasn't feeling like a big fish even, but in the end I lost the fish and had to scramble and use a jigging rod on our downrigger. Needless to say, I was very angry. They did replace it no questions asked at island Outfitters, but I almost lost a whole day of fishing in a derby because of it. I'm definitely not sold, but I understand that **** happens. I'm going to test the new one this weekend and I'll report back. Really hoping that it wasn't a $160 mistake.

I use 5 x 9ft Reef Rods. Just bought them all after retiring and selling all my 9ft Berkley rough necks. The Reef rods are great. They take a while to break in. I'd say at least a good 10-15 fish or up and down on the downrigger multiple times. As I understand guides in Renfrew are using the 10'6 ones. I fish a ton and I just encountered my first issue. The reel seat just kept spinning around and around. Anyway under warranty no biggie. IO said they have had some issues but with how many are sold its a very small percentage. They definitely have gone up in Price. They are $159.99 now. Got mine for $119.99. They keep going up in price based on demand. I do like them alot. This is my 2nd summer fishing them.

Handle is fine. I like it. As long is doesn't snap like the blue titans. Time will tell....
Funny I just bought a titan after all of that. The R3ef rod after a good season of use was so so, and dont use it much.

I like the titan I just bought better, and has way better handle. That handle starting to bug me after while.
