I'm leaving in 3 weeks for Masset and a brief stop at Rennell Sound, has anyone been fishing there as of late? Where should I go and what can I expect. I've been glued to the local resorts reports, but, I know they can be overly optimistic to attract their clients.

Kano Inlet (just south of Rennell) has started to have good fishing, and Port Louis to the north just reported a 62-pound tyee. Fish at depths between 70 and 130 feet, use almost any colour 7-inch Tomic plug (#530, 600, 602, 500, 803), big spoons #6-#8 Superior, Clendon Stewart, Wonder chrome, 50/50 brass-chrome, brass; Cut plug; whole herring in teaser. The fleet from Salmon Seeker will be out at the mouth of Rennell or in front of Kano. The resorts don't need to be overly optimistic....the west coast of Graham is always good.

Just picked up a fella and his son in Edmonton and flew them home to Ft.Mcmurray.They were on the Salmon Seeker for four days ,and they said the fishing is really heating up. Judging by the amount of salmon they brought home things are looking pretty good for up there. The biggest salmon in there party was 38lbs and biggest hali 212 lbs!!! brought in by a 12 year old boy.:D

No disrespect intended towards QCI resorts, I just wanted to make sure the reports were accurate as I am a marketer myself .....and maybe overly skeptical lol. Thanks for the info, I intend to spend money with the resorts while I'm there.

ventured out in Rennell Sound from an isolated logging road last year. My fishing trip was great in June 2007. I was on a local's boat from Queen Charlottes City...we boated three halibut and two nice springs in 20's. Enjoy your trip in QCI.
