Very encouraging to read all this great stuff.

Crossing my toes in hope that my MR2 gets here today. I want to break it in up there.

Perhaps this will be my year to boat a 30#+.

What a TRIP!!!

Tons and TONS of fish, we released many many more than what we kept.

Final tallys look like this
1 48#er
3 in the 30# range
1 12# coho.

Limits with the rest Over 500 pounds of fish in 3 days.

We fished Dundas and Edie

Lots of Coho around Holiday. Bait balls that will make your whole screen go red.
We used Herring and when that shut down we switched to plugs and spinners. That did the trick.

My Bro caught a 15 pound Yellow eye. 2 Halis in the mid 20's But we didnt spend much time with that end of things.

And still I havent busted the 30# mark. My guide thought I did for about 5 hours.. The scale told a different story.
Lots of laughs, unfortuantly I can not give the same report for our lodge owner. We made the best of a horible situation and when it became unbearable we left early.

Hats off to Dollys (Fish packer) That Charmaine really knows how to take care of customers. She was a real class act and should be named Mayor of that town. Quality person for sure!

Pics when I find the Cam.

BTW the new Islander was worth every penny.
BTW no matter what your "Outfitter tells you.. Do not park in the yacht club parking lot. The good folks over there will have the tow truck on you ASAP and then that friendly fellow will charge you $60 just to get his truck out of the way. Nice Tourisim idea. Makes me want to run right back. Oh well as a group we still had lots of laughs and thats all that really counts.

Trip was good the weather was not good at all. Big rains & winds limited fishing conditions. We fished the mouth of the work channel 2 days that we could get outside. Other days were nasty for winds. So yes we fished in with all those great netting boats cutting us off on ever 3rd run. What a bunch of nice guys "NOT". Got one 34lbs-- 7 in total.. THE CRABBING & PRAWNS were great. Be back in mid Aug for the coho & hali.

You hit the nail on the head regarding Prince Rupert. The fishing can be amazing but the town itself lacks a lot of support for fisherpeople.

Some small businesses (like Dollies and the tackle shop at the south end of town) go out of their way with customer service. Other businesses treat anglers like a nuisance and/or money machines.

I don't like to pay $35 a night for a campsite, or pay $5 to park at the marina for half an hour to watch boats. One tackle shop wanted $152 for a chicken rod that I had just paid $29 for in Terrace. When I politely tried to point that out to the gentleman running the show, he got a bit abrupt.

Lessons from Rupert:
1. launch at Port Edward
2. cheap motels often cater more towards the recreational angler crowd.
3. stealth camp if necessary.

With the economy of Pr. Rupert the way it is, you would think that city council and the Chamber of Commerce would make more effort to encourage this type of tourism rather than concentrating on cruise ship traffic and ???

I'll go back there as often as I can, but its for the fishing not the services of the town.

Just my opinion.

We are in Rupert right now,...I found a connection for my laptop. Strong witns most days,..caught a few coho, 2 late running chinook..TONS of crabs and the Halibut atr good out on the south of Melvil Island. We were catching 40 a day up there, buy it is a long run!!!
