How far are you willing to travel?
The spots I know best are up in Dixon Entrance near Dundas Island and Whales Island.
If the Seine fleet is fishing for Pinks, try and catch a few and use strips of fillet for bait on a big circle hook.
I don't have a chart handy, so I'm going by memory here (from 1995). On the SW side of Whales Island, there is a rather large island that protects the entrance to a large bay on Whales Is. Go inside the bay toward the NE corner, there is a spot there about 240' deep that held a lot of big Halibut. The tides and currents should drift you in there to the spot. There is a small stream that runs into the bay not far from there on the NW side of the bay. The Pinks will be all over waiting to go up this stream.
On the Western end of Whales Island there is a small group of Islands including Haystack Island. Check the bottom along the outside of these islands for good Hali spots. Again, 240' seemed to be the key depth when I was there. Though I did get a 70 pound Hali in 70' of water right next to a rock cliff on that small island protecting the bay on Whales Island while looking for Lingcod.
For Dundas, look at the top end of the Island for Goose Bay (Goose Point?) - This is a popular Salmon trolling spot and I saw a 70 pound Chinook taken here that won the Daiwa Derby in '95 as the largest Chinook taken in BC waters that year.
Check the shoals on the outside of the bay and you should find good Hali and lots of other bottomfish.
Good luck!
