I suspect a handful of Slipper Skippers/commercials are multi-voting. They save the voting page in their favorites then delete their history/cookies, then pull up the page from their favorites and vote again -then repeat over and over.
That way they can each vote 100's/1000's of times. They just vote all day long and it is hard to keep up with them. Now if someone out there wrote a script that will have your computer vote automatically we could put it on a few dozen of our computers and then each computer would vote a few hundred thousand times and the score would be 99.9% "Unhappy".
This is a cheap polling program the newspaper is using without security and is completely bogus because the voting is not tied to your IP Address so that each address can only vote for a particular topic once.
Even then you could vote more than once from different IP addresses but that would be hard to do and would not skew the results to much - unless you have control of a BOT ARMY of thousands of peoples hijacked computers which you can remote control to do it for you. I suspect there are legality problems with that, which is why such things are usually done by proxy from some third world county.
The only way to beat then is to multi-vote at a faster rate than they are, so while there are many more of us we are already way behind in the poll, which is counter intuitive. Welcome to public relations warfare in the computer age.
