Prawning off Victoria & Sooke?

Whole in the Water

The other discussion about prawning got me thinking.

Does anyone know any good places to catch prawns off Victoria?
What about Sooke?

I know about Finlayson Arm, but that gets over fished and it's really out of the way for someone who lives in the Western Communities.<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sharp hooks and full traps!

I have heard that you can get prawns around Albert Head on the ledges but with the speed of the current, they say you have to put weights in the bottom of the traps so they don't drift away. Never tried it but would like to hear from others if this is right.

Ok, so it doesn't look like Sooke is much good for prawns.

What about off Oak Bay or Sidney (other than Finlayson Arm)?<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sharp hooks and full traps!

I don't think it's deep enough around Vic/Sooke/Sidney anywhere other than Finlayson Arm. I could be wrong on that but I can't think of nor have I heard of anywhere.
