Port Renfrew

fishing was good again today withthe hot spots being east point or logan there was an all day bite with some big fish.Biggest being 45 caught by the banana boat 41 ft off logan creek.

Sweet! I'm on my way Thursday.

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

Renny remains very good, the morning bite is decent until the huge ebb current kicks in then it is hot and heavy when the afternoon flood starts up. Most boats are limiting on that tide. There are still some big ones atound the banana boat got a 46 on Sat,proof a blind squirl can find a couple of nuts.

Nice job again on another 40+ Banannas! (Ian says it was was from his advice on the teaser head. LOL!)

Fishing was good for us.
Saturday nothing in the am, 4 hatchery coho in the late morning (lots of wild released)and 3 springs (24, 20 and 2- teens) on the afternoon bite.
Sunday 2 springs on the morning bite (24 and a teen), out to the bank for 6 hali (5 chickens and a 50+ that bottomed my 50lb scale), 4 hatch coho then back to the beach for a 28lb on the afternoon bite.

Huge ebb creating big water at the bank. Not for a small boat or a weak stomach. Good afternoon bite at the beach and non stop coho action at the bank. Coho were good size also.

Good times!!

Tips

Renfrew continues to be very steady with the last couple of days beaying above average there was a 56lber caught yesterday and it was 54 on the outfitters scale this morn.Hey Steeliehead the Charlottes is an amazing place but this reny sounds like you get mor bang for you buck.

Thinking of maybe doing Reny next year but I am a little concerned about the water. Is it fishable in a 20'boat boys ?? I have heard all kinds of things just lookin for some more feed back.

I have a 20 foot grady white and have had no problems in the 20 plus trips to Renfrew. You still have to have your boat in tip top condition and watch the weather if you are going out to the swiftsure bank but you should be fine.

Walleyes--A 20 ft is fine for Renfrew, depending where and when you want to go. Just keep a close eye on the weather the further you get away from the bay.

No Rigours

We go up there all the time in my 19' Sangster. Its no problem. Just keep an eye on the weather and tides. The real trick can be getting out of the river.

Thx for the input guys. We are thinking of trying something differant for next year. Looks like either Reny or Tofino we'll see. I do feel quite confident in my boat and like you guys say as long as a guy watches himself should be alright. I have all the electronics other than radar and there is safety in numbers as well. There must be some fishing along the banks as well no ??

If you plan on running in the "fog"... I would get radar! Can get a little crowded in the fog if you don't have it, especially going out to the bank! Plus, you won't see anyone coming at you at 25kts, until it's to late!
