Port Renfrew 2009 Season

The fish are back boys salmon on the beach was fairly decent yesterday and the day before,Camper is the hot spot and both trollers and cutplugers were geting them but the cutplugers were getting far better fish with quite a few in the 30's coming back to the dock.
Swiftsure is now in full swing with so many coho it's almost imposible to get down for springs. On Tues i could not get my rigers below 100ft without it popping off for at least 2 hours while fun it's a tad frustrating when trying to fish for springsa, eventualy the coho slowed and we found a steady bite for springs up to 25lbs.
Oh ya huge water out on the bank the last couple of days but it should come down every day now.

Good to hear Bananas. Some of those fish should make it to Sooke in the next couple of weeks!
Very fishy on the West Coast this year!

Any predictions for this weekend in terms of weather and fishing??
Im going to head out again saturday morning for first light....
would my best bet be east point in my boat or run over to camper if the weather is good?

oh, and how far out are the coho now? i heard they were even being caught at the bell buoy - and truth or reports of that?

the fishing has picked up a bit but still spoty,i fished east point yesterday for 8 hours and hit 6 springs landed 5 of them up to 25 lbs.Hit them both inside and outside and at depths of 21-45ft.
For the weekend either very early or late in the day should do the trick.

Nedarb think i saw you there sun morn you were in the little tin boat running for cover when the big blow hit.

hahaha yup that was me :) when the white caps started breaking into the boat it was time to go :P I heard you chatting on the radio - give me a holler if you see me saturday - the tin boat is called the **** cutter haha, sounds like ill be at east point first light and if weather looks good and fish are being caught at camper ill run over there later, thanks!

Man, be careful in a little nutshell like that! It is the big Pacific there afterall - that can be dangerous pretty quickly!

Pretty Slow yesterday over at east point while i was there from first light - noonish...
2 fish caught right off the point from what I saw in about 60' of water, i got one of them :) I lost two other fish though which was disappointing - most guys didnt get a sniff.

1 fish was taken in about 100' of water straight out- there were reports of some coho being taken in about 150' of water but i didnt see anything.

Bank fishing is on fire almost like the good old days with limit catches of halli and springs.
Springs are 12-35lbs and fast and furious 100-220ft plugs, spoonsand flasher and hoochies with plugs getting the bigger fish.
Fished east point this morn 4:30-9:30 and landed 2 springs seen one other snatched by the seal.
Inshore fishing will pick up this week with all the moring flood tides.
