PORT HARDY

Conspicuous silence about Pt. Hardy. O.K., I'll admit it: other then a spring after only my first 10 minutes of fishing off the Gordons, I ended up with pain and suffering and a big skunk last August.

Should I bite the bullet and take my chances last week of August or go to the other side of the Island which seems to continue having pretty good reports. Thanks for spilling the beans, or at least flipping one of them out on the table....

Anywhere on, the WCVI should </u> still be good? But remember, the season is just now starting to whine down, including Port Hardy? I guess the question should be, what are you looking for? If it is Springs... I think I would be headed for Ucluelet, Renfrew, or Sooke?

From here to about a week out and on, Nootka and Port Hardy should be, "very hit and miss"? Coho... completely different story?

The whole upper WCVI should start to be slowing for "Springs", Nootka and Port Hardy included, as the MAIN </u> run has passed?

Just my 2 cents? [:0]

Hey Papa Swiss,

Not sure where you are getting your info from but this year has been the best year in Hardy since I was born. I have never seen this many fish ever. I had spring salmon swimming around my boat thet other day. I can count one one hand the days I have not limited out by 10am. Just got back from the morning on the water, another limit out morning with my biggest spring being 32#. As for local guides not wanting to give up their spots, most of us do not have a problem giving them up just have to ask, might not get the secret secret spots but you will get good info. I have spent years hunting for my spots and generally don't hand them out to just anyone. Most good fisherman would be able to find fish no matter where they go.

Sharphooks, I think you will find fish no matter which side of the island you fish, there has been a ton of fish everywhere this year. Tight lines to ya and I hope you have a great trip. Give me a call or e-mail me if you are heading my way and I will hook you up.

Hi Bear Cove,

Need to chat with you about port hardy, I have my 26' boat up there at the marina for the past week and coming fishing with my brother and his friend tomorrow for a couple of days. Have caught tons of coho and pinks but not springs (we are from Courtenay) just wondering if you can give me a hand / advice? Should I call you at your # on the bear cove cottages website and who to ask for?

thanks,
SB

Hey Wade
Thought that might be you, hope alls good with your fam and your Bro, remember you from your Clipper days. good to see someone in Hardy being helpful, I'll try to look you up when up there next summer, you guys still own that gas dock? have a good one:D.

Mr Killer,

Not sure who you are. Ya, my dad still has the gas dock by the ferry terminal. I built some cottages a few years ago on the same side of the bay. Run a little charter business out of there too, had an amazing summer up here. Were you up here fishing this summer? Hope you had some luck.

it's Chris,I think about that time Benny, Nails and I came up to visit Corey and you took us boogie boarding at that lake on the way to Port Alice, I remember that being pretty damn funny. Good to here you've been having such a good year I could only dream of living up in Port Hardy, I did fish up there this summer in early June I got 2 34's and one in the mid twenties we were running 30 miles to get to the good fishing but that's the great thing about that place you know theres always fish somewhere, I saw a few of your reports on another site so good to see you over here, have a good rest of the summer.

Chris,

Oh ya, it's all coming back to me now. That was alot of fun that summer. Cory was just up at the end of July for about 10 days. You need to contact me when you come up next year and we can hook some fish together.
