Heading up mid August, but hearing it's pretty dead ...any reports ?

That would be great....we didn't do so well last year.. hoping for a pink run for the grandkids this year.

Limited out on Chinook and halis today...not a bad bday present for me. All the Chinook were from 24lbs to 32lbs. Hali's fairly small...15 to 25lbs, with a 45lbser being caught while salmon fishing (as well as 4 others...haha)...but mmm mmm good :)

Some pics from the past 4 days.

Hey Bojangle-- you will have no problem at all finding pinks this year. It will probably be hard to keep them off!!!

I head back up on the 9th looking for coho, which is going to be a harder task

Hey Dave-- well done. Shows that persistance pays off.

Hey David, Nice B-Day. Was that you out there with friends and your dad guiding??, or were you chartering?? Or maybe you were hung-over and could only drive the boat:D:D Congrats on the great day!!

Was a great day for us as well. 3 Springs to 26 lbs, (the wife lost 5 today!!!![:0]:(, Don't ask) Nailed twin 7 lbs coho on a double header, went hali fishing and brought home a 35 and 25 lbs. a couple of Yellow eye and a nice 20 lbs ling. All in all it was a great day.

We were chartering some guys from Salt Lake City. Had 3 bite so hard they cut the leader with their teeth..hungry buggers today. I was wondering if that was you who cut us off [}:)] haha jk

Good to see some fish being brought in now. Have a good one!!

Chad...I did as you asked and didnt put pictures in of locations etc....now no reports? Is the next step not to go out at all? it's filomi days weekend...usually one of the busiest weekends of the year for fishing...there will always be 20+ (there was today) boats at castle and duval...unavoidable. I'm not sure about you...but I'm sure it is impossible to please many other guys on the dock from my perspective...they can think/say what they want...i'm just going to go out and fish...period. I have a lot of respect for many guys on the dock including yourself as fisherman...but if it isn't returned...nothing I can do about it.

Have a good day fishing,
David

Just a bit of info, Halibut slime will burn Salmon if left in the same tub.
Try throwing a wet burlap sack between the hali's and the springs.
:)
p.s nice catch !

The wife had the catch and release syndrom that day. We even fished a different place then when we were out.

I guess we are all not sheep!!!!!!!!!

yeah.. Thanks for the reports..keep em coming.I don't think we expect locations.. that's why it's called fishing... nice to know they are out there though... and thanks for the pink report.. the little guys will love being into a lot of fish and those are perfect practice for these future Serengetiguides...

Yea, the best pic posted was from richmake earlier, showing bremner island in the background, next thing you know the codfather sheep were hitting that area. Nice one. Keep up the good work Serengeti, I think there are some green eyed monsters around the dock......

Nice Big Joe...calling the Codfather Boy's sheep will do you wonders...
I learned my lesson the hard way...

You guys gotta try photoshop, just add in some totally out off the way easilly identifiable lighthouse (or whatnot) into the background. That way all the sheep will be totally flumoxed, and won't have a clue where to go. Baaaa :D:D

So if ya can't beat em join em eh? [:p][8D] I'm assuming that's the lesson learned??

I don't think BigJoe cares much about what they think...and I don't think it will have much of a negative effect for him. Most of them will get out of the way for your fish even if they hate you...they do for me anyway haha...so far. :D Just to clarify I do think most are pretty decent guys with the odd sour apple in the bunch up in Hardy. See ya out there on Wednesday...righht until the 29th of Aug :)

I would say calling anyone Sheep is wrong and Big Joe just continued a theme started earlier in the thread most likely directed at us non-guides. Most of us Sheep are not running 24 ft Grady's or 30 Ft Pursuits so we would probably not follow you to Bremmer unless it was one of those perfect days and we know how many of those we get. Unless you are running Stealth boats you can always be foud by some enterprising sheep with the right equipment. My favourite way are the eyes in the sky;). You can all be found though I am yet to follow you. Keep up the posts David, and Big Joe your honesty is refreshing.

I quit worrying about "sheep", along time ago! Now days I even help them... but most don't listen anyway! Or do they know how to fish the areas! [B)]

Just my 2 cents!

I have a question to all fine guides working in Port Hardy area. I would safely assume that you travel as far out as 25-30 miles from Hardy on regular basis (I don't think it's really necessary to mention locations). Are there really that many people willing to follow you that far out considering gas costs and safety concerns?
The only reason that I ask is that there are a lot more reports from west side and Vancouver than Port Hardy. Most of those reposts also contain some useful tackle/depth/location suggestions. Port Hardy reports seem to contain a lot of photos and little if any recommendations.
I am by no means suggesting that there is anything wrong with the way local guides conduct business. Personally, I would never follow another boat for the sake of finding their fishing spots. That pretty much kills half the fun for me.
Just wondering why there is so much secrecy(sp?) ?
