Here is the two, you can make your own decisions.
Port Alice
Lots of parking, if the lower lot is full, then just go across the road to the upper lot.
Free to launch and park, pretty safe to leave your trailer.
Good all tide launch, wharf to tie up to and a cleaning table (If needed)
A windy road into Port Alice with a couple of small hills.
Same distance to travel to WH as from Coal Harbour.
Not much for amenities if you need to pick up soem last minute things before you leave.
It will be a longer drive for you if you take your truck to WH. Add an extra 80k for the travel into PA and a return trip
Coal Harbour
Crappy launch ramp at low tide, have seen some folks with big boats either put their rear axel of their truck under water to get their boat on the trailer or wait until the tide was high. It is not a boat launch, but is an old whaling station and float plane ramp.
Costs to launch and park, and some times you need to park your trailer in one loaction and your truck in another.
Has been know to have a high percentage of trucks broken into while parked there.
Easy drive, with a flat and easy road from Port Hardy.
Port Hardy is 13 k away so there is easy access to all the extra things that you might need.
Pretty neat run through Quatsino Narrows on a good flood or ebb tide.
Less driving if you are taking your truck to WH.
I personally launch at Port Alice due to no cost, easy in and out and a cleaning table. I am a cheap ba$tard when it comes to saving money. But I do not take my truck to WH.
Either will get you to great fishing and some pretty amazing country.
Cheers
