I dont know, but my friend hauled up a 150lb hali from swiftsure last summer with 20lb test. The halis wernt biting so he threw down a cod rod to see if they could get anybottom fish and he grabbed a 150lb hali. And theres pictures to prove it ;p

we landed a 60lb halibut last spring on salmon gear
and 25 lb test... it's no problem
just can't horse it in !

actually dodds used to be great for big lings...havent been there in a long time so i doubt anymore. wouldnt be atall surprised if someone nailed an accidental hali near there. lotsa current and lotsa food, and a nice flat bottom in northumberland channel.

There is only little rock cod around there and I don’t think they would be using hali gear around there. 50# hali doubt it in that area especially with 20 lb.

We got a 53 pounder up from the bluffs last weekend on on 20 lb test, hooked on a hoochieh hook to boot.
