Hi There!

Just wanted to let you folks know that if you are planning to come up to Poett Nook or up the Bamfield Road this season, we have a new daily updated site that will let you know the Bamfield Road conditions as well as the weather and current fishing conditions.

Road Conditions were good except in the area from Sarita Lake to the Nook. Slow down in this area as the roads were washed out in November - January and are more than passsable but rough and lots of potholes. Work to improve is ongoing - should be fine by fishing season

This would also be a great forum for you folks to post advice, and update others on conditons throughout the season on the Nook.

Good luck this year and Keep Your Tip Up!

i cant wait until august at the nook:D

hopefully some coho this year[xx(]

As for spammy topics I think not. Welcome to the site I know the input on this board from you will only be to assist those coming to enjoy what you get to enjoy more then most. ****Or :D

Just kidding.

A few posts on fishing conditions sure would help from time to time to.[:p]

Enjoyed chattin with you today sorry I was so busy.

Welcome To The World of Those Addicted To Fishing

Or

Those Who Won't Admit. [:p]

Cheers ME;)

Didn't sound spammy to me.
Is mid-July too early for inshore fishing...other than sockeye? Usually don't head over there until August, but some guys coming out from the flat lands in mid July are hoping for a trip over there.
Thanks.

Yeah we just finished up the Winter Spring Derby

The winning fish was 19 Lbs. Although not as big a turnout as in past years, due mainly to a forecasted bad weekend, those 300 that braved the weather had a great time and the weather was not bad after all. I think it was the weather, those fish never made it in.

These are the new docks in the Nook

Yeah those docks were murder [xx(]...all is good now with new anti slip grates around the enitre dock. The ramp is also designed so that the ramp is not so steep anymore.

It was time to have them replaced and man they look nice. New Gas Dock too :)

Never been out there, but my appetite has been whetted.
Is the road as bad as I've seen on other boats that came into PA, dust etc., and heard about?

Did you see the prices for moorage!! I guess the seasonal guys have to make hay while the sun shines. I've never seen a charge for sleeping on my own boat before.

$4.00 is quite low actually. They would still be using the facilities (Washrooms, store, fire pit, showers etc) So really $4.00 per night is very low.

Anyone sleeping on a boat is more than welcome to use the Marina like any othere patron. $4.00 a night VS $24.00 for a camp site, sounds like a steal to me. I think $4.00 is more than fair.

As far as moorage goes, that is quite standard. Most marinas in this area charge about $1.00 per day up to 20 feet and $1.00 more per additional foot. If you want I would love to send you some examples from about 6 marinas in the area that charge the same or more.

I took a look, did some homework, so let me know.

BAMFIELD ROAD ANSWER

I see small cars driving in all the time. Only thing to be wary off is the "off road" logging trucks. They have right of way - so pull over and let them pass you. The road is constantly being plowed, however after rains it tends to get potholes - just take your time and adjust your speed to the road conditions. Check the Poettnook website for updates on the road conditions.

Just take it slow, I have made it up easily in a Honda Civic before.

Hey thanks Backatit,

That was going to be one of my examples of a higher fee, so thanks for the help.

$4 is cool if it incudes the facilities. I'm used to the places where you put quarters in for everything but sleeping is "free" with the moorage.

Yep,

All is included, well except for the showers. But don't tell me you get those for free :)

There have been some people in the past that have taken advantage, so we did have to put this in place. Never did it before, but when one or two people stay in a boat, they still use the campground and facilities...so it's all good :)

Awesome!

We are coming there on the 9th for mostly prawning and we'll set some lines for sure.

See you there!
