Pleasure craft license expiry date website

June 2035 for me.

Who is going to be stopping/checking PCLs on the water? As is there are lots of boats out there without any numbers.

DFO? Boat licensing isn't their mandate.

Coast Guard? They won't be using their limited resources to police that.

RCMP? Same. Unless you're also drinking and being a fool, they'll not be chasing down fishermen.

Another batch of costly bureaucracy from the feds that wastes more money than it collects.
I was stopped by RCMP off Victoria waterfront and they asked for proof. This was about 5 years ago.

4 years ago I was stopped by RCMP on the west side of Haida Gwaii, Englefield Bay. Only boat there! Was issued a ticket for not having the paperwork on the boat. Last summer in Howe Sound there were a few checks around Lions Bay.

Apparently I'm good till April of 2034 , good thing because by then the Alzheimers and dementia should be in full swing and I wouldn't remember or care to renew it anyway

How much was the fine?

I had to refer to the electronic copy of my PCL I keep on file to retrieve the number to check on the website. My check confirmed it is consistent with the expiry date on the licence. No where on that licence document does it specify the requirement to keep a copy of it on board. Is there a directive somewhere else?

My habit of keeping it on the boat started with the marina insisting that every boat at Burrard Civic had to have it and a copy had to be sent in for their records. I thought there was notation on the PCL that said it had to be kept in an accessible location, but I could be wrong.

Englefield. The best multi species fishing I’ve had.

I got stopped at Rupert 3 times in 1 day, Coast Guard, Rcmp and DFO all within a couple hours. I have never had an infraction. None of them would give me a 'we have boarded this date and time', it was "reel em up boys". Nice enough but ffs

Got stopped in Nootka last year got a written warning can’t remember the dollar value if I got stopped again. RCMP crawled all over the boat for 30+ minutes only thing they could find

Been stopped a few times and have been asked for license paperwork and bill of sale. On one occasion they came alongside and just confirmed who I was, I guess they had the rest of the info on their computer.

What if someone just scrapes the decals off a boat right before they abandon it?

This is dumber than the gun buy back.
Of course they will scrape the numbers off. It would be stupid to leave the id on it and get fined. The reason the A holes dump them is they don't want to pay to do it properly.

Uh, no the gun buy back is much dumber.

Who worries about scraping the decals or grinding the serial number if they haven't transferred the registration? Pretty sure these people aren't that forward thinking anyway... You're giving them too much credit.

many times in Bamfield we have a TC rep on board with rcmp, dfo and or coast guard. even came into grappler once and there was tc rep checking.. i think he was there to bust a certain individual though.
my friend was sitting on my boat alone and the rep asked him if he owned the boat. he replied "no" then when more questions got asked my bud got out of the boat and walked away. lol

That's the way to do it!

I deal with TC in my professional life and it's an exercise in dysfunction.
