The pics of the jigs do not do them justice - they kick butt (pun intended) These beauties will be lethal!

Finally got my production molds ready for my new jig project - I decided to call it the "Psycho Killer Lure". They will be available in 1lbs head size & then we will have a 1 1/2 production mold made in the late spring.

We are doing the first production run this month and will have product in the Parksville PNT store within the next 30 days. I have added an info page & gallery to the project pages of Making Tackle website located here: http://makingtackle.com/psycho-killer-lure/

I will be adding some test fising photos from last summer to the project pages very soon - hopefully next week! :)

Derby asked me to develop a single hook version of the "Psycho Killer Lure" - I asked why? He felt that it would best suite his market...any opinions? Should I offer both single and treble hook versions in the stores, or would a treble be well enough? Don't get me wrong here, I will build it how ever anyone wants it as a custom order, but I would like some mainstream consumer feedback for retail options. Thanks in advance... :)

..any opinions?

I agree with Derby.

In any fishery that allows selectivity, we should look for the easiest release - both on the fish and ourselves. In my experience, it's a fair bit quicker to shake one off with a gaff when it's got a single in it's yup...
I'd go Bigger on the single though :D

Like what I see, so will have to swing around sometime. Looking Forward to the 1.5lb run. :)
Any plans for anything heavier down the road?

@IronNoggin,

Under Derby's guidance, I have used the hook that he suggested, a 10/0 MUSTAD 3407DT - which is similar to the 8318D, but it has a longer shank than the 3407DT. The 8318D is better suited for the huge octopus skirts and seems to be a popular size for commercial lead head gang trolls.

As stated in some of my earlier posts, a 1 1/2 lbs...I may consider a 2lbs, however in last summers tests 1lbs worked pretty good. I know some areas throughout the north isle that a heavier head would be better suited. We will be testing up there later this year.

Looks great, but agree a longer shank and bigger gap'd hook would be better. Single is way to go so you can shake the small fish easily. Also longer hook shank allows you to bait it up. Single hook pointed upward should reduce any inadvertent hook ups with bottom too.

...ok, let's get some perspective on the subject here. :)

The following image is of the same jig posted earlier, a 7 inch TOMIC plug(T-REX), a loonie, a toonie and a quarter. The jig has a 10/0 MUSTAD and the plug has a 10/0 DURA Nickle.

Tx that helps, looked a whole lot smaller in the original photo. Plenty of room to slap on something smelly to that hook. Think you are onto something there.

@Fisher_dude,

I will be rigging with mustad trebles - we have been testing with the butterfly rigs, but I need different hooks...I had no issue making the rigs, just the hooks seem to be a little bit light for the application. We'll play some more when the herring start to come in thick to spawn.
