Plant ID ?

I am reasonably good at identifying most plants we encounter in our various gardens.
But this one I am stumped on.
My Lady thought I had planted it, and of course I thought she had.
It is getting close to flowering from what I can tell, and we just discovered neither of us put it there...

Any Ideas?

I could always let it flower and then key it out, but am hoping someone here might simply recognize it...

Looks like a weed to me i had some in the garden and thought they where poppies at first until i saw the flower buds. I think its some sort of danilion

We have a positive ID: Common Groundsel or Senecio vulgaris - a rapid and aggressively colonizing weed.

The nab our just had one of these grow to about 6 feet till I went over in his yard and chopped it down. was hanging down over my fence

First year I have ever seen them get this big must be ideal conditions.


The funny thing is it grew out of a planter box that has not been touched by the neighbour in 3 years. Every once in awhile when his weeds start growing to high i jump the fence and cut them down.

my wife thought it was the biggest dandy lion she has ever seen.

Check out iNaturalist.org or get their app. you can upload plant or animal photos and have other users identify for you. If enough people identify it as a certain species it can become "research grade" and used for science. It keeps a total of how many species you've found and ends up being almost like Pokemon, but for adults.
