Looking for some advise on where to fish around Pender as I am new to the area and planning on takening my two daughters 7 & 9 out for a day of fishing on Friday! I have heard that pinks and some soxs are being caught there, this would be a great fish for them to catch!!! If anyone can give me some tips on where to go, proper gear to run, speed and depths it would be greatly appreciated. Txs in advance for any advise shared!!

Fish the Pender bluffs on the west side of "North Pender" island. Pink hoochies with 18" leaders behind Purple haze or Pink Haze flashers, 40 to 90 feet deep will get you pink salmon. Run dummy flashers with the same gear for sockeye at 60 feet. Anchovies at 60 to 90 feet for the odd coho or spring.

Trendsetters info is bang on. A few small details to add though. Keep your speed slow 1-2 mph with short 18" leaders. If your boat trolls faster try 22-28" leaders of 40lb test. The hoochies should be small mini plankton size. MP15 bubble gum pink hoochies work well. Remove every other tentacle from the hoochies.

Watch for jumpers, fish where you spot surface activity.
good luck.

Pinks also school up behind the deep side of Enterprise Reef near the ferry dock on Mayne Island.

Use the sites search function to find more info.

Trendsetter and TheBigGuy thank you for the tips!! My daughters are very excited about fridays fish!!!

All good advice. If fishing the bluffs, A good starter point is off the white picket fence and work your way NW along the wall. If fishing close to the bottom, watch your depth, as there is a few places that like to eat cannon balls.

If you plan to fish other places around pender, be sure to check the RCA maps. Seem to be a lot of RCA's popping up around there.
