Pedder Winters

Managed to sneak out late this morning. A few fish right in the bay but smaller and not on fire. Around the corner off Christopher and Whirl was good though. Crabbing was decent for two hours, kept two Dungis, tossed the big Rocky as well as the rest. Holy **** was that Westerly quick to come on to 35kts.

Finally some pictures from those who are lucky enough to get out. Nice ones. What did you catch those on?

Good job Justin, nice to see everyone smiling, hopefully I can get some time off and give it a try.Keep posting the pictures I really enjoy them.DAN

Pretty bumpy today at Pedder.[xx(]
Only gave it a couple 'hours and called it quits.

cheers

Sunday...Pedder was lumpy so we checked around the corner and Whirl was much better and the race was no problem. Surprised more boats from Pedder did not come around.
Had a tough time keeping fish on. Hooked 4 and landed 1. Also lost a decent 1 in Pedder before heading to Whirl.
Tough to take up the line fast enough from 150 ft when running with a fast current. Got the last 1 to the boat by gunning it to take up the line.

We hit a plenty of nice endangered species today. Two nice ones around 9# in the box. Fun to watch a couple of 11 year old girls pass the rod back and forth with perma grins! Both hatch jobs on squirts. Stayed in the bay, bit breezy outta the NE. Lots of fish around though and a great group that was sad to hear the bad news about a potential closure affecting a repeat trip in March. Kinda hit me hard when the little girls said, "you mean we can't go fishing"[xx(]

nice winter fish, nice weather, calm water, mild weather...I am sure it is wonderful to get out on the water and enjoy.

I was out yesterday - just in time for the morning tide change but unfortunately I had to learn that the bite was on just before the change. I saw a couple of smaller ones still been taking around the buoy but then it turned off. In 3 hours I had only one hit on chovie but missed it. But I am glad I stuck around until the afternoon because within a couple of hours I caught 3 - 2 released and one 13 lbs kept. Had another good one on but lost it after a good run... All very close to bottom. Sometimes persistence pays off...
