I understand that there are limitations to the size of fish that you catch now for area 25 (and others) so my question is if you are fishing on the highway and catch a king over 77cm and the weather gets bad can you go inside the 1 mile area to fish for a king under the 77cm rule. If you are in possesion of a 77cm fish that was caught outside the area are you going to be nailed for fishing in an area that is limited. In some areas of the puget sound you are not allowed to continue to fish for other species if you have caught a king in a specific area that was open.

Nope, just mark the area you caught it on your licence, as long
as the fish is recorded, DFO have to take your word that you caught it on the outside.
Now if they happened to arrive as you were landing a fish over 77cm
on the inside you would have to release it.

Actually did that last week! And... had a visit from DFO. No problems. But they did ask where we caught the fish outside and checked our cards! I am also sure they watched us come in! They do watch the boats coming and going, as they fish!

The DFO while I was there... nice bunch... just stay legal!

sounds great I just didn't want to have to run back to tahsis after fishing outside. I can't wait to hear the drag zinging and seeing that great bend in the rod as those big kings start fighting.

So how was your trip Charlie???

Hi DB - as a rule of thumb I always try to hit my mob/wp button on my chartplotter, mostly for my records, but it does a splendid job of backing up my card when questioned. I make my wp name the date and fish type for future reference.

thanks for the info outtadablu that is a great way to show where you've been. thanks again
