Old spools of line

What do you foks do with any old spools of line that have 100' or even 100 yards of line left on them. I have around 8 spools ranging between 4 and 20 lbs test that do not have enough line to fill a reel, but still has 100' to 100 yards left.

I can use some for leader material, but most are trout line.

Do I toss them or what???

Cheers

Ya I have spools of 25# with not enough to fill a reel either. What do you do with it. No one even wants it as leader as it's not strong enough. I am thinking mine will end up in the recycle bin one of these days.

I still have some of that watery leg oil available;)

Hey Lippy & Holmes,

Come on guys.

We are NOT tring to give away USED LINE or WATERY USED OIL. Mine line is new, never used. Maybe allow this to go some where for someone before you Hi-Jack this thread.

Afterwards have your way...LOL

Cheers,

I remember that post!!!!

great fun!!!

Aw don't worry about FA. You and CL have a good time in Bamfield and tell Bryan to behave himself!!!!

(now it has really gone off topic!!!!)

Cheers

Well if we are going to take this thread off topic. I am tring to figure out some thing some one mentioned on the phone the other day. Is penis size heredity? And if a guy loses 35# do they really gain an inch. Guess I could get an extra 3 or more inches.

Don't worry about Bryan. It's Tracey we should worry about as she is the only woman comming on our trip.

top shots on reels loaded with braided line, filling tiny (ice-fishing?) reels, freshwater leaders, fly leaders, homemade sabiki rigs, gardening, kite flying, varmint snares, practical jokes (the old money on the sidewalk trick for example), give some to the kids at the dock for shiner fishing.

If it was me and I couldnt use it for leaders or something I would chuck it and kick myself in the butt a few weaks later when I need it..... Didnt mean to derail.....

But........ Used fishing line for sale or trade... that was funny ;)

Geez a 100 yds. is plenty of line if there is a fish that runs anymore than 1/2 that it will add more than an inch to mine! Lmao

invest in a 3,000 yrd. large spool for re spooling your reels.. buying a bulk spool saves money, last for years, line on hand when needed to re spool, no worries in running out, eliminates left over line from using small spools more often.

How long do you figure a giant spool lasts doesn't it break down after a while, just my 2 bits but i just strip off the old stuff & head on down to (Trotac) the boys are always willing to fill it up with the latest flavour & the price is right.Mind you I live in Victoria so it's close by.

Sammy if you keep the line in a cool dark place it will last for quite a long time. I have one in my gear storage and it has survived for about eight yrs. I will check it's strength this year to see if any change.

Yes, bring your reels to Trotac to top up is a good option to, done that many of times.. but it's sure nice to have a big spool on hand when you need it. just keep it in a dark plastic bag out of light and air, it will last a very long time.. you can pick up some amazing deals on e-bay.
