O-FISH-ALL 2014 Vancouver, Howe Sound, Sunshine Coast Reports Thread!

Anyone out off Sandheads? Thinking of heading out with my 19' and wondering how the waves are. S12 off weather office now. Cheers, Rob

heading out to North Arm and possible further south later this afternoon. Weather looks decent though I'll check the Enviro Canada marine weather report when it comes out next at 10:30am. There's a good app called FishWeather that I use as well and I recommend you download it (it's free!). Funny how some of these different weather forecasts seem to contradict themselves. Anyone have other weather sources they use? Seems like calling buddies already on the water is the best thing as well as people on the forum providing a weather update with their reports. With all these smaller boats heading out for sockeye around Vancouver I'm sure it's much appreciated by all.

Last week it seemed like the big schools of fish were all up near the north arm / iona. By the sounds of reports they have dispersed and/or headed south to sandheads area? Look forward to tracking some down this aft and will post report later today

I hope they swim slow as I won't be back until Aug 29th!...but will be after the osoyoos lake sockeye to keep up the skills.

i got a call from a olld timer commie troller up in Blackfish Sound.
He,s been commie trolling closing in 50 yrs.
only two boats there , when in hey day there would be hundreds.
he is pulling full lines and maxs out his freezers everyday.
a couple others in Johnston Straits , upper , mid and lower , and ALL doing same thing.
They saying they are boggled and never seen anything like it . as they can go anywhere and pull full lines all day long.
Main heard of larger Adams. And only a small handful of commercial guys working them.
Amazing how the dfo bankrupt the commie fleets to pay FN debt....
in a few weeks there will be wide open seine/troll/gillnet fisheries in Gulf.
They cannot let them all up the river , that would be disaster.
Get your freezers empty and get ready.
This IS going to be a historic year.
also , commie friends up in North Island Charlottes are knocking Springs and Coho and still lots of soxs still up there.....geez , amazing!!!
thought i would share that tad of info i got from a good freind , gumboots on the grounds.
have fun :)

Really good to hear Capt Hook, thanks for sharing! I've been keeping an eye on the other fishing reports up North and it looks like what's here now is just a taste of what's to come!

Yup,

Sandheads = south arm
T10 = Middle arm
Iona/Wreck = North arm

either way, it seems a little slow out there today for most boats. Looking forward to getting out there in a few hrs to give er a go.

Sandheads had a morning bite till 8am, starting the day landing a quad and a couple doubles. then picking fish here and there rest of the day. Finished with 12 in the box.

So where r the reports for the consensus today ....... North Arm or South Arm T 10 Iona ...... Where do u think those sox are staging right now . last week was a fire off T 10 to North Arm. Recent reports although few seem to appear as Sandheads the best bet at present. Are you guys that are fishing Sandheads fishing the Hooter and Coal port side or Towards T 10 ..... From the lightship

Tanx HT

Finished Business ... Pippen...... Any luck today ?

Taking some guests out on Saturday and hoping to find a few fish. Wondering the same thing!

I feel like I'm the blind leading the blind...

With fresh schools arriving all the time and tides washing fish here & there it's impossible to say-I did see my first English Bay Sockeye of 2014 tonight though just after swimming.

Going south at the crack of dawn tomorrow. North/ T 10 was spotty from early til noon.

BUT..... I would be working the Bell along the
channel markers with spring gear. ;)

I was calling you over first thing, no answer, thought you might have bankers hours, lol. Then bite was off after 8am. Struggled to finish the day.

Anyone else see the 36'? Fountain black with three 275hp verados, holy cow. Looked unreal.

I'm out again tomorrow
