The meeting is open to the public and we encourage you to invite others to attend. FYI - 1101 Munro Street is at the foot of Lampson Street in Esquimalt. I look forward to seeing you there.

Kindest regards,

Could we have two or three weeks heads up about the next meeting?
I would like to have attended the meeting tonight, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to prior commitments

Great to see an agenda posted, now if DFO could start publishing minutes from the various meetings....

Request the minutes from the meeting from your local sfab rep. he will be only happy to put you on his email distribution list...

Thanks, will do that.Wouldn't it make more sense though to publish the minutes online rather than having the rep respond online to individual emails requesting them? Seems to me that would decrease the workload?

we are planning on doing that in the future through www.sfab.ca. Right now the Department has challenges doing that because of translation requirements for information that gets posted on their website.
Wow! That's pretty sad! I understand the Federal bilingual policy was to ensure all Canadians had access to information in either official language. Hard to believe it has now evolved into providing access in neither official language. Got to love bureaucrats! Lol

Fish Brian...its been posted since Nov 7th down in the thread for these such things...meetings, derbies etc.

shoot. I guess I missed it. Who can I contact for a copy of the minutes?

Had the local area SFAB meeting on Thursday night. Apart from the SFAB, DFO reps and SVIAC BOD members there were maybe 6-7 other people there. Considering the thousands of anglers that live in this area - pretty damn, sad attendance IMHO!

Local anglers have a chance to get regularly informed on important fisheries issues, to ask DFO staff questions, and pass motions to try to influence DFO management decisions and we get only a handful of people that show up???

The SFAB process is not perfect, but it is one of the few regular, public involvement processes we have into rec fisheries management and we need to use it as best we can to try to change things, or we can continue to not be involved and learn to accept the results of non-involvement in our fisheries management.

If we want things to change we have to work for change - that's what the other fishing sectors do and that is why the rec sector always gets the short end of the stick, My 2 bits.
