Just built a 19x34 shop with 11' ceiling to store the boat for winter. It is insulated. Looking for ideas on heating it when working in it. Overhead electric, oil furnace........???? Any ideas? Something that heats up quick, no woodstove.

Dayton heaters if you only have electric.. I love them in our new shop!

My better half did tons of research on heaters before we bought .. on garage forums..
If we had gas would have done something different ..but no gas out where we are.

Let me know if you want info on the best place to buy them!

There are lots of electric heaters out there .. you are welcome to come and see the daytons in our shop if you are in our area.

Oil Furnace. My buddy had one in his shop years ago worked great.
One of my friends rips them out all the time to do gas conversions.
Where you at, I can ask him if hes got any.
Dan.

What about propane? Can't most nat-gas units be converted? Get a huge tank, fill it once a year or so.

Put windows in too!
Mine are up high. I have 14 foot ceilings in my part and the windows start at 8 ft. Gives you lots of wall space and the natural light is great.
I have a ceiling fan as well.
The electrician was quite impressed with the fan i used. It was the industrial one from home depot with lifetime on the motor. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Oh oh oh...
Put an outside hot water tap too!
That is a GREAT thing for washing the boat camper, coolers, quad or whatever!

And another thing!
Drain in the concrete floor.
For when you lower the engine the water has a place to go. Floor slope is VERY important too. I had an excellent builder and he got it perfect for me, he suggested the floor drain.

assuming your floor is already poured? if not , and you are going to put a small electric water tank in,, set up a recirc pump and use in floor heat.. cheap and nice steady warmth.

One better -- put those Thermal Solar collectors on the roof -- they work year round whether it's sunny or not. Use it to heat the water in a hot water tank and then circulate then set up the re-circ pump that TrophyWife mentioned. Once you've paid for the equipment all the radiant heat in the shop is free.
