New GoPro Camera in crab trap

Looks to me like that trap is upside down so the gates won't work properly

Lol looks like you might be right. Reminds me of the time a guy posted a picture of his 1st Hali and the clip to his spreader bar was left unsnapped! He was lucky it was just a ping pong paddle.

Also noticed the pull line is fastened to the door opening.

That is not the pull line. Just a clip with a 6inch piece of line. The door is removed to allow more crab traffic. We did not lower the trap to catch crabs. just to get them on cam. I do know how to catch crabs and how to use a trap. This was just for trying out the new cam. We did not want the gates to work we wanted a lot of traffic.
Thanks for all the comments.

After seeing the clip on the door I thought thats what you may have been doing just setting it up as a catch and release trap. How deep was that water as it sure was clear?

go pro makes an underwater camera ? how deep can it go lost a few prawn traps at 300 ft

live feed does not work that deep,, you have to record then look back at what you where shooting.
i got a drain camera that goes to 250'.. might just take it out sometime.

There are cameras that they use in SCUBA diving with housings that will go deeper than 170ft.

Probably won't be as cost-effective as the Go-Pro though.

That's some great footage! I put my GoPro Hero 3 cam down on my canon ball to about 130 feet and saw nothing but blackness. I'll try it again in some different waters (was in the harbour) and on a sunny day if we ever get one. I think I spotted a fish though at around 10 seconds in. You be the judge. When the camera goes completely black was when I dropped it from 110feet to 130 feet and dragged the bottom. Kinda disappointed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcFCwiYSQxc
