New bunk help

i have UMHW with striping to remove water on mine. it comes in a roll and they will cut it to fit and also put it on the trailer if you like including custom end caps. i got them to do it since i couldnt be bothered.
just drop by and they will show you the roll. https://highlinertrailer.com/contact-us/
UMHW is best for aluminum boats. you can spray on liquid rollers from the can to make it even slipperier.

I have rebuilt the bunks. Used standard 2x6 and capped it with 1x6 PVC fascia using countersink stainless screws. Primed and painted the 2x with spare house paint we had kicking around. (Did not paint pvc) Hopefully I don’t regret that move, not sure how well the paint will hold up, but whatever.

Will install on trailer on Monday and report back with how well they work. (Photo is from before painting etc)

Nice work! That's exactly what my bunks look like. Works great for me, so I hope it works well for you too

you dont want screws on top without a cap or layer -- screws on the side. otherwise you have steel, salt water and aluminum aka a battery.

they dont need to. its just a saltwater electrolyte between two - anode and cathode. batteries are the same thing. the anodic and cathodic plates dont touch each other. is it far enough down to NOT become a battery when the hull presses into it ? idk but i wouldnt take the risk. its easy enough to slap a UMHW sheet with a U shape and fasten it on the sides with SS screws.

Just finished swapping the bunks. Did it in the driveway which made it much more difficult but I was dreading the possibility of doing it at the launch then needed a tool I didn’t anticipate. Turns out only needed a 1/2 socket and impact driver.

Easy swap made challenging with blocking and trollyjacks but got the job done!

Hard to get a picture with the boat in the trailer. Will take a better one at next launch.

And yes, my blocking job was super sketchy and I know it. Did not take pictures of the extra sketchy parts. 🤣
