Need to replace the scuppers

The flapper type scuppers on my boat have seen better days and need to be replaced. In looking for replacements I have also come across the ping/pong ball type and the duck billl and am wondering what your experience has been with them.

Thanks

I had a bud at a local fab shop build me exact copies of the ball type on my Seasport...out of stainless. I only reused the plastic balls. Never have to worry about them again.

i got the ping pong style on my boat and there awesome. Just careful with your straps becasue on my boat they want to go right over top of them when i tie down to the trailer

I have read on THT site that some guys are complaining that the ball type are quite noisy. Any of you have experienced this, but then again with my hearing this may not be a problem. Thanks for the heads-up on the tie down's, but I am ok there.

How could they be quite noisy?

I chuckled when I read that thinking that guys where hearing a ping pong match while bouncin on the bank

How could they be quite noisy? I am thinking the same thing.

Here are a couple of quotes from THT site.

"My buddy has the ping pong ones on his boat.. the sound on a choppy day is enough to drive you nuts. They do seem to work well, though."

"The rhythmic noise of those little plastic balls rolling back and forth drove me absolutely $%@&!?$ crazy!"

Any rattle or vibration will drive me crazy until I locate it and do what it takes to silence it. Never once have I noticed noise from the balls in the scuppers. Maybe if I was drifting with the kicker off in a bad chop it might be possible to hear them.

I too went with the ping pong one REALLY like them the only problem is when a tooth pick or the green leaf seaweek gets caught in them from inside the boat draining out sometimes ill get water backed up but a quick blast with the washdown and shes good to go again.
