How to fiberglass over engine cover?

Hey guys,

I am wondering how one goes about removing the old doghouse and replacing with a flush surface and hatch? My model is particularly tough as it has the lip built into the deck and transom which would need to be cut out.

I have a Trophy 2359 and and around halfway complete on the outboard conversion.

I am basically wondering how you fill the hole that is left along the transom and deck and have the rigid structure to still walk on it. What does the deck hatch sit on as I assume you are not installing cross braces underneath. How do you fill the transom hole? Would you cut the piece and glass it in? If so how do you access it from behind (inside the transom looking forward) as its not accessible.

Just in general.. I am wondering how a professional would go about this project.

Thanks for any info and sorry for the filthy bilge.

Jeff

Kind of all comes down to your budget cut those ridges off flush use aluminum plate in its place wouldnt need Cross braces if it’s thick enough.

Hire a pro lol, if you want it to look good. Personally it needs to be cut out flush, glass the back straight down, glass a lip around the hole in the floor, then built a hatch panel and glass it to close the hole.cheap no but it will look like it should
