Need Someone To Build A Large Alumniun Cabinet.

Hey guys, I have a little personal project I need done and was hoping for a little design help prior to fabrication. I'd like to build a secure storage cabinet for some household items. It's a bit of an odd size so can't find anything stock. Basically it's an interior size of 24" D x 45"-46" W (max OD 48") x 50" H. Two swing doors, some kind of sturdy pad lock system (can be outboard of the base cabinet), side lifting handles like a knack box. Ideally aluminum. I have no idea what something like this should cost but I was hopeful that it wouldn't be more than around $1500. Maybe I'm out to lunch, so if you have any insight let me know. I didn't want to bother doing any more design work if this was going to cost me 5k. I can do some pretty complete sketchup drawings if the material needs to be CNC cut, if that helps. I would want to know the best way to fabricate it and incorporate that into the design. Thanks for the info if able.

I don't have first hand experience with them but have seen their stickers on lots of medium duty trucks around town that they've outfitted.

If you want keep cost down don't make it esthetic. Build it out of aluminum. Stay away from stainless.

If you dont mine a trip on ferry I would ask Larry at DSS welding. He is in Duncan and does good work. Remember your probably 150 to 200 per hour labour if shops are charging properly plus your material.

It's pretty basic making cabinet. If your going to start thinking CNC your adding cost. We all charge at least one hour minimum setup drawings or not.

Have you reached out to Brando? He is on mainland I think and does nice work. Might be better with someone closer.

He was my first call but he's busy with diapers now, I think.

If you are on the mainland, call Nakia at Outback Custom Metal - 604 217 8323. He's done great work on a few jobs for me over the years.

Man I totally forgot about this project 😬. Baby brain is a real thing. Will be more than $1500 cabinet is not too difficult but hours add up quickly I don’t think your in the 5k neighborhood but possibly half way. I don’t have a press big enough for the bends so it’s outsourced. We can chat some more about it you have my #.

Express would be a good option I would get a price from them as a baseline.
