My hubby and I spent many summers fishing and cruising the B.C. Coast, but life has taken us away from the playground that we love so much.
I am now a writer, and I need to verify a few things for a novel that I am writing. Can anyone help me?
Specifically, I need to know if the crabbing/prawning regulations are the same as they were the last time we visited.
Back then, crab buoys had to be one color [white & red???] and prawn buoys had to be another [yellow maybe???]. Am I right about that or do I have this confused with Washington State? If I'm wrong, what ARE the regs?
Also, if I remember correctly, the owner's name had to be clearly marked on the buoy with a waterproof marker, and the boat numbers had to be on there also. Is that still the case -- or am I wrong -- or is more information required?
Up to this point, I'm talking "recreational" crabbing and prawning.
Finally, are the requirements the same for commercial crabbers and fishermen, and if not, what is different?
FYI, I've done all kinds of searches for this information, trying to find B.C. Regs, but the websites all seem to want to take me to fishing resorts, freshwater lakes, and other sites that fail to provide me with the information that I really need.
I would greatly appreciate any help that you can provide. [I promise I'll mention you in my acknowledgments!]
Cheers!
Molly
