FishingBC App not accurate for regs?

Hey all

I am just wondering if something is up with my app not updating or if the app is just wrong.

When I go to chinook current regs for area 127 it shows me that it’s currently open for 2 chinook in per day. It however doesn’t make any mention of the slot size that is currently in place. Seems odd that it would be wrong so I am wondering if my app missed an update or something

Did you read all of the regs listed?

Not sure how they are syncing the Fisheries Notice data with their app data, but I suspect there is human oversight which is subject to delays from the posting of the notice to the app being up to date

Agree and that’s how I know there is a slot size but others that might rely on the app could easily be getting it wrong. This strange in that I remember it being correct last year. My app says it’s fully up to date
I sent in a report just for fun. Looks the same on mine.

So they've been emailing me all morning. It tells you to be specific in your entry online but they still asked me which area. And then the next email which species. And then the next email they asked me to find the regs for them that stated there was a slot limit and take a screenshot for them. That led me down the path of trying to find it myself. My. God. I was panicking thinking like ok I'm an idiot and I went by what someone else said online and made this request and now these dudes are going to think I'm wasting their time. Couldn't find it anywhere. Finally I found it on a map with the dates listed. That is absolutely silly. Am I missing something here? Is there an easier way?

Yes. Easier way is to go catch a fish, get checked by the DFO, and then let them explain the regs to you 🤣

Remember it isn't the regional DFO that are responsible for the mess with fisheries right now. It is the Ottawa people and politicians. The regional staff in most part on our side.

These apps and everything do get updated internally in DFO. If you do find a mistake just be patient and contact DFO. They can update it on their end. Or you can also contact your local SFAC rep of your area which all of you should do more of to stay engaged.

The forum isn't a good way to fix it, and just creates confusion for people instead of dealing with it directly.
