wish I didn't buy my elite 5 last year......

Just keep in mind most of the HDS packages don't come with the chip. That is extra and we factor that it in your 200 more or so..You can get an elite 5 gold for that price with the chip...

Elite 7 with chip is like 700.

The Garmin GPSMAP 421 is a much better deal if your looking to save money. It's $370 at Radioworld, but if you buy a Bluechart g2 Vision chart you get a $200 rebate. That makes the chart basically free.

X 2 Great deal
I've been using a Garmin for 8 years
tough little units

The chart is expensive , around $360
they have increased almost 100% from a couple years ago.

Some of those Lowrance package deal units come with a chip alllright.....but it's not the same chip as the stand-alone chip.

The stand alone chip is better....

West Marine had some of those HD5 package deals last year.......so did Harb Chan.

I bought an HDM4 from Harb Chan (because of space consideration).....it came with a "package deal" chip.......not bad , but it's not as good as the better chip (which I could buy for 249 and change)

The chip I got will take a software update....I took it in and Denise updated it me for me au gratis. Thanks Denise!...:D

But it will never be as good as the standalone chip.

And....the better "standalone chip" is not as detailed as the old school chips............but it's not Navionics fault.
