Hello to everyone. I’m a newbie to the coastal fishing scene and to this site so I hope you don’t mind me asking you all acouple questions along the way.
Firstly, on top of the basic boating license can anyone out there give me a heads up on the best coastal navigational online course or courses to take?. I will be moving to the island next year and want to be prepared for fishing and tripping around the coastal waters of B.C.
Thanks to all for any info it is greatly appreciated.

Not sure about online courses but once you are here you can take relevant Power and Sail Squadron courses. In the meantime there is a book titled How to Read a Navigational Chart by Nigel Calder I found interesting, and it never hurts to have a copy of the Boater's Pocket Reference by Thomas McEwen. The Pocket Reference has almost 800 pages of very dense, very small print and covers all aspects of boating including navigation and is not pricey. Perhaps some others on here know of some other good books, and perhaps you could get the written material from some relevant Power Squadron courses in advance, if you contact them, or a copy of the material, off someone who has taken the navigation courses.
