Yes.....very interesting...because in the book "Bucktails and Hoochies", Jack Gaunt (inventor of the Hotspot flasher) goes into great detai about how to rig a hoochy with a Siwash and a swivel.
Here are the OVERALL leader lengths (including length of hoochy) he recommends:-
Chinooks (Winter-fast troll)-----------42 to 48"
Chinooks (Winter-slow troll)-------36 to 42"
Chinooks (Large Summer -fast troll)------44 to 50"
Chinooks (Small Summer-slow troll)-----40 to 44"
Coho (Small bluebacks)-----26 to 32"
Coho (Large -fast troll)-----36 to 44"
Coho (Large-slow troll)----32 to 36"
Sockeye and Humpies ---(slow speed only)----25 to 31"
"We are talking wire line, weak plastic flashers,thick-skin 4 1/4" hoochies, with heavy mylar dress, and two 92533 4/0 hooks"....
WTF?????.....were you just on my boat???????
Supertackle hoochies are all "thick skin"............
I've been using Jack's leader recommendations for years now......and they still work for me.
Some flashers made today are much weaker than those "originals".
Thousands of people still use wire lines.
Even back in the seventies everybody knew that if you wanted big fish , you took the mylar twinkle skirt out of the hoochy. I never fished a twinkle-skirt in a hoochy for 15 years after that.
Hoochies are pretty versatile........you can fish 'em slow or fast.
I find faster works good for hoochies.
But even Jack, in his 70's book, said that his hoochy lengths were only guidelines and that one needed to play around a bit to find what works in a particular area or on a given day.
Good stuff! Thanks Again John! I Had a blast and you and Bart are quality Fishermen and the Mighty Sculpin is an absolutely amazing machine without a doubt!![]()

Sorry Demco99 when someone with a boat that catches alot of fish takes you fishing, i tend to keep my lips sealed on depths, lures, location type stuff, if it was out of my own boat i wouldn't hesitate to let you know but if i want to get invited out again i think revealing stuff is not the proper thing to do.
