My 206 double eagle build

You might be surprised. That motor will be hardly working on that hull. Looks like a well cared for motor. You will be years before replacing that one. Well done.

Ya all the research I’ve done on them for the most part has been very good reviews except for fuel and oil consumption. Just feels weird owning that motor when I work for a mercury dealership lol.

Well got her on the new trailer today with the help of the travel lift at work. Hard tops are great but I like the soft top in this model as it’s kind of rare. All though I’m not sure I like it next year when I have a new one made $$$ lol
Good score on the vertical guide bunks on that trailer as well. You’ll appreciate them when hauling the boat out. My trailer came with the horizontal guide bunks which were useless as they were under water when my trailer was deep enough to pull the boat up to the winch. I had custom brackets made and galvanized then fabricated the vertical bunks out of the old horizontal ones. I prefer bunks over rollers any day especially on the ramp but you can’t drag much weight along them even when wet.

Well not my motor of choice it will do for now till I can swing a new one. This belonged to a close family friend from new so I’ve been around it for years and know it was cared for well. Heading over to Victoria to do a compression test and bore scope the cylinders this weekend. It’s a 2000 250 ocean pro, has a brand new lower, new trim pump, new reeds, comes with all rigging and hydro steering. It’s gonna be hard to save for the new motor with this fuel and oil guzzler lol but she’s gonna fly!
An engine you know is worth so much, rather than wondering if the maintenance was done or they cleaned it up real nice after sinking it overnight at the dock once! If you are spending anywhere close to what the tax would be on a new engine, every year in gas you are having a wicked year. We are doing a huge trip on 2X 225 Merc 2 strokes this weekend and no matter what the bill will be, I remember that new Power would cost 70k mounted with taxes. You should fly!

Very good point! I also got it for installing his new Motor and rigging so not having to come out of pocket for it was a big help. Even came with a flow scan meter as well so I can watch the fuel burn!

Well it checked out great with a even 120psi on all 6 cyl. Also I was pleased to see it fire on the first crank and idle very smooth. All components worked grate including gauges and flowscan meter. I will be bring it home on the 25 and sticking it in my shop for a clean up. I’m going to wrap the Upper and lower cowl In flat white vinyl replace all decals, add some blue lights in the vents on the cowl that will turn on when the under water lights get switched on and re paint the lower in the original Johnson white. I know a lot of flashy unneeded **** but it’s fun to customize a bit.

Well it’s been a busy few months. Found some time today to finally close in the out drive hole. With a lot help from my dad and a tone of great info from Danj I got a lot done today. Plug is in and all holes are filled. Tomorrow I will sand her down to get it smooth then lay up the glass mat and then it’s off to the welder for the pod build. Here is a few pics from today. And I’ll see ya Monday Brando! I’ll bring some cold ones! Hope ya like lucky

I did 5 layers of 1708. The first 3 were the same size as the plug and the next 2 were a inch bigger as I went. This is all new to me so I’m probably not the one to ask but it did turn out good I think. Just having a couple cold ones now waiting for tonight to give it the final sand to shape.

Looks great, nice work.

De rigged and removed my new to me motor off of its original boat today. Got the shop cleaned up and made a spot beside the bench, I will be tearing it down and clean her up over winter. Full service a fresh vro pump and new paint and decals.

Well here is a update on the build with a major shout out to Brando for an amazing start to the pod construction. This guy has an amazing eye to detail and engineering and I can’t thank ya enough bud. Looking forward to the finished product then it’s off for anodizing before install. Here a few pics

Another pod progresses update. Also wanted to say I can’t thank Brando and Hal enough. These guys have gone above and beyond with the amount of though and designed they have put into this pod. Working in the marine industry ya get to see a lot of custom work done to boats. This work is right up there with the best I’ve seen.
