Im thinking about putting my double eagle up for sale. I have a new boat now. My non expert opinion it that there is rot in the stringers and transom. Proven pod and perfect layout for fishing. What do you think all fair price would be. Trailer with papers included.

I'm in the middle of a DE 17'6" project total tear down and rebuild
Already did transom & stringers
Working on deck now
Just wanted to say it's a lot of work and materials are pricey these days

yep - I would start from $5K, happy if get $4k for it IMO.
Looks like he stripping the boat down
I think it will be just Hull, Pod & Trailer
With the hull needing stringers & transom work probably deck too
Things like controls and steering already removed

I'd check with that guy who just listed a 23 Hourston on Facebook and see how he has done, at least the dream of having it podded is done! I believe 3k for the hull and 2k for the trailer. If I wasn't in a hurry I'd try $4947
Based on the little bit of the trailer you can see in one photo, I don't think it's a $2,000 trailer. Looks rusty and old. Hull is worth $500-1,000 if it's rotten and it's in rough shape all over. Pod is worth $1,500 to the right person but it's not the way I would design it. Its got a dish in it with drainage, but the motor had to be jacked up so the pod should have been flush across the top and the motor mounted up higher to begin with. Then you wouldn't have to deal with those drainage channels.

Fair comment, zooming in on that trailer I'd have to agree on it. A hard top cuddy, is worth something. I don't think $500-1000 gets you a leaky riveted aluminum hull with a rotten transom and seats these days? Years ago I got a buddy riveted aluminum for free, don't think he ever really thanked me or even invited me out in it.....if I found one today I'd list it for $500 given the market but I digress. I see some value in the hard top cuddy and the last one was on Facebook was 3k, reach out and find out how many tire kickers he has had or offers at that price.

Double eagles seem to have a lot of those rotting issues eh
Hourstons have those stringer and transom issues as well. Interesting that two of the best respected hulls on the coast have the same issues. Some rebuilds are using foam stringers to avoid the future rot issue. Mine is foam stringers now.

I'm currently working on a DE rebuild from the ground up
On my DE the old stringers & transom was but in place then glassed
The problem with that method, is if water gets into transom or stringers it can migrate between the two, which will over time rot out both
On my boat I used Coosa in the transom
And foam stringers, all glassed in separately, so no potential of water migration
My deck is a composite material too
There is nothing to rot out below deck

I'd drill a few holes and check the transom and stringers, you got nothing to loose. There is a guy on here who just picked up a 20 with a pod and I want to think it was 5-6k with a **** trailer from what I remember seeing on Facebook when it was listed. It's got an arch, a pod, it's a deep v, throw in some scotty swivel brackets and ask 10k. Heck a new pod is worth 5k to get built I just asked.

My opinion on that, is most boats this age have been rotten and discarded any years ago. But hourston and eagles have stood the test of time and are worth working through the rot where another boats are not. Which would shine a light on the rot.

That kid bought the boat and trailer for 1500 and now trying to triple it

I listed the boat today for 5200. It sold in 30 min for 5000. I had over 20 inquiries today for it. Even a few offers over asking but i had already made a commitment.
Did it have any power? If you don’t mind me asking?

And good for you on the sale. When there is no boats to buy and the price of new is what it is, the costs of a gut actually seems reasonable.
