MR2 vs MR3

I own MR2’s, but have used MR3’s and TR3’s.
I really like how efficient the free spool option is for setting the gear behind the boat after a hook/bait check as others have mentioned. I feel like I’m wasting so much precious time stripping the line out by hand with the MR3 and even the TR3, and having to adjust the drag looser for stripping and tighter for lowering on the rigger. Like others have said, sometimes every second really does count. That being said, the MR3 and TR3 are way better for reeling when you’re playing catch up. As I get older, I find I’m frantically trying to keep up with my MR2’s, especially when fishing the bottom in winter! Fished TR3’s in the Charlottes in the summer, and besides the frustrating delay getting gear behind the boat when the bite is on, they were the best reels I’ve ever used on the downrigger and on the fish. The MR3’s were almost as good, besides the line creep.
