move to Courtenay?

hey all,

I'm a 31 yr old guy with an opportunity to move to courtenay. Love to salmon fish, just wondering the good and the bad of the town and area....(obviously good central fishing area)......currently in the kootenay area....any opinions appreciated....thanks!

I think courtenay would be an awesome place to live . The real estate is reasonably priced, you are close to mt Washington, they have an international airport and lots of outdoor things to do . Like you said it is really central.

It will rain a lot more than you are used to but they usually don't get a ton of snow. A couple times a year it snows. You can be at the top of the mountain snowboarding in 40 minutes if you want snow. Look on mls.ca if you want to check out the housing prices.

Town is full sorry, no fish left either

Sorry,
:)

That's not how you greet new people to the community. You have to ask what kind of boat he has, then he can find a property based on boat parking arrangements.

In all seriousness, welcome to the Valley Kootenayslam. I have been here 2 years now and this is my retirement place. The fishing is great, weather during the winter is more wet than anything. Snow belongs in the mountains. Here you can fish, golf and ski all in the same day. In the spring you have the daily Snowbird Airshow at the airport. Summers are warm and dry but the evenings cool off nicely.

Again Welcome

Don

I went over for a hockey tournament last fall.
Had never been there before, and thought it was a great place, got me thinking about a retirement place over there.
But that's a couple of decades off...

If we were ready to retire now, we'd be there.

I think the Comox Valley will grow a lot in the next while. Like some have posted, it has every recreational opportunity one wants to do at it's door step. Even Donald Trump stated once that it is a real good investment area. A hidden Gem so to speak.

Welcome, have lived in the Comox Valley for 25 yrs. and love it. You are 15 to 20 mins. to fishing the channel, 1 hr. to the west coast and maybe 3 hrs. to the fishing up north.
And as said ski, golf and fish in the same day, you'll be tired though :)
Need any help on areas just ask.
