I,m just wondering how far you guys have to travel to fish [just water time]My min.35 miles - my max so far at 55 miles round trip.

thanks the runt

Average for me is 4-7 miles which means i can be in the water
drop crab traps and be fishing within 15 minutes (maximum.)
the boat ramp is about 5 minutes away from my house

I usually have a 30-40 min run at 27knts..so about 25+ miles a roundtrip??

To fish or not to fish,
What a stupid question!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will sit on a boat drinking beer for a life time :D

As with r.s I am 5 blocks from the launch in Crofton, to set crab and prawn traps is about a 4 mile run, can winter spring fish while watching that the traps don't get raided , I also now have a Summer lot/trailer at Otter Point which includes a boat launch so I'm less than 20 minutes away from prime fishing grounds.
If Port Renfrew gets hot I can be there from Otter Point in about a 1 hr and 15 minute drive, thence a launch and about a 3-5 mile run to start fishing.
Life is good when you retire,

Pedder is 15 minutes away, winter springs 5 minutes from the dock.
Life is sure tough on VI, ain't it.

Sooke Harbour launch is 20 mins from my house.
Then the winter fishing is 10 mins out.

I'm only 3 min drive to the launch and 3 mile run (10 min) for winter spring fishing. Porlier Pass is only 1/2 hour run or 10 miles for salmon or cod. Life is definatly good!

Half way down Alberni Inlet is a place called Headquaters Bay, can fish and prawn right there, can even watch your traps and have a cold one from your lawn chair. There is a lot for sale there if anyone is interested. Lyle
