i already have a gps unit and i am in need of a good fish finder. Don't care about color or not but I want it to be powerful and decent in size. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Looking for more of a bang for your buck starting out fish finder....The furuno is alot more than i can afford to spend at the moment

Burnsy22, you can't beat a Lowrance. They have been around for a long time and have only got better with time.

I have a LCX16ci for sale. It comes with a west coast chip, transducer and antenna. Complete unit for $700.00

Profisher,

What transducer do you have? TM258, 260, 270?
Would you recall where the fishfinder is made? I'm ready to pull the trig on one and wonder if there's going to be any duty coming from the states.
Been considering buying it locally for the warranty but 20-25% less in the US sure makes buying it a little less painful.

Thanks,

I would look into a Elite 5 unit from Lowrance. It has a 5" screen which is big enough for most of us and has a pretty reasonable price tag given the detail that it shows. I would look for the Elite 5 DSI unit that is brand new this year. They are combining the down scan technology into this unit with out having to pay for it as an accessory like the HDS 5. Here's a link if you are interested.
