Looking for a 1 week vacation destination

For me, my non-fishing wife and a 6 year old interested in fast action fishing. Looking for a lake on vancouver island with affordable but clean cottages on the lake, early August, swimming/beach playing, canoeing and fishing for trout/bass. Anyone a good idea? Thanks.

St Mary's lake on Saltspring is nice, there are cabins around the north shore for rent.
i'm not sure about the fishing at that time, but there should be some smallmouth to target.

I have never bass fished but normally trout is very slow in the heat of summer.

pretty tough to find fishing and swimming at that time of year for sure...my only suggestion is Sproat Lake, but no idea where to start with fishing and doubt it will be fast and furious. Is this on top of our Malcolm gig or weren't you able to convince the crew to do that one?

St Mary's is a great place to swim or fish but after the middle of July the fishing drops right off.

For a little kid though there are all kinds of Perch that will bite a worm under a bobber-no good to eat @ that time but fun action for a while.
