30lb big game, light blue or light green, its been very good, no complaints at all. Heard good things of maxima also. If you're gonna do braid, 50lb power pro.
Mainline: 80lb Power pro...top shot of 30lb berkley hi vis.....
How much of the 30lb is on there?? Just a little or do you rarely get down to the braid?
40ft...love the sound of the braid ripping thru the guides...
I'm going to respool this year and going to try this braid thing on the salmon reels. You have me convinced with this post Derby lol. I gotta hear that sound now.
Only like my braid on the lever drag, the knuckle buster still runs mono

Any issues with the thin braid cutting into your spooling pinky?
That's how I how I roll too . Just though about maybe trying it out on the knuckle busters as well.
I'm using 50 pound Suffix 832 super braid - perfectly round, does not bind into itself like other braids. I also splice in 40 pound Suffix florocarbon to ensure the braid doesn't cut into the Scotty Downrigger clips when large fish hammer the bait. Love the rippin sound of braid like Derby. Excellent set up, and bonus is the braid telegraphs what the fish is doing and adds greater feel to the fight. Its like sex without the condom.
Been using florocarbon for leader - no turning back. Less abrasion issues and invisible in the water.
Its like sex without the condom.
